Is Blue Light Bad for Your Eyes

Scott Fullerton · Oct 09 2019

So you have heard about Blue Light, but do you really know what it is?

Blue light, also known as high energy visible light, is a type of light that has the shortest and highest energy wavelengths in the visible light spectrum.

Blue light is everywhere in our every day life! When outside, sunlight travels through the atmosphere causing blue light to scatter everywhere. This is what makes the sky looks so blue. Natural Blue Light from the sun regulates our natural sleep and wake cycles, the circadian rhythm. Blue light helps boost alertness, heighten reaction times, elevate moods, and increase the feeling of well being.

Artificial Blue light comes from electronic devices such as your cell phones and laptop computers, as well as energy-efficient fluorescent bulbs and LED lights.

You might also be familiar with the fact that Blue Light is bad for your eyes, but how does it affect your eyes?
