Pure and Potent DHA to Support Healthy Fetal Development

Wild Caught and Sustainably Sourced Fish Oil Without a Fishy Taste

No doubt you’ve heard from your doctor about the nutritional benefits of DHA to your developing baby. There’s a growing body of research that shows this powerful Omega 3 fatty acid supports proper brain development and promotes better cognitive function and attention later in your child’s life. DHA is also necessary for healthy eyes, nervous system development and proper immune function.

Doctors often recommend that expecting mothers take a DHA supplement because it’s very difficult to get enough of this essential Omega 3 fatty acid in your diet. This is especially true for pregnant women who are typically advised to limit intake of fish due to risk of contaminants such as mercury. When formulating our Prenatal DHA, we focused on making a supplement that is fantastically pure and potent for baby and easy to take for mom.

We sustainably source our DHA from wild anchovy, sardine and mackerel in the deep seas off the coast of Chile. Our heat-free distillation process purifies and preserves the integrity of the fish oil without creating any harmful free radicals. The process filters out all heavy metals, including mercury. Each batch is tested to guarantee its purity.

As importantly, we’ve made our Prenatal DHA easy for you to take and digest. Two highly concentrated, small soft-gels give you 500 mg of DHA and 100 mg of EPA—the recommended daily dose for expecting and nursing mothers. There’s no fishy taste thanks to a bit of natural lemon oil extract.

Prenatal DHA is formulated to be paired with our Prenatal Multi to give expecting and nursing mothers all the recommended vitamins and nutrients needed for healthy fetal development.

Healthy Fetal Development

Wild and Sustainably Sourced Fish Oil

We are relentless about sourcing the best, most natural, most ethically produced ingredients available. The fish oil in our Prenatal DHA comes from wild anchovy, sardine and mackerel caught off the coast of Chile. It was important to us to base our DHA on fish oil from the most nutrient-rich, healthiest fish we could find. Farmed fish are typically given antibiotics, fed an unnatural diet and raised in crowded, dirty conditions. Using wild-caught rather than farmed fish was a no brainer for us. We care about the planet and are concerned about overfishing, so we made sure to find a source that is sustainable.

Heat-Free Distillation Process

Heat damages fish oil and creates free radicals. That’s why we use a heat-free molecular distillation process. It retains the integrity of the DHA so that you and your baby get maximum benefit.

Re-esterified Triglyceride Form for Maximum Bioavailability

After distilling and purifying the Omega 3 fatty acids from the fish oil, we return the DHA and EPA molecules to their natural triglyceride state. This re-esterification process is intended to make it easier for your body to absorb and extract full nutritional benefit.

Cruelty-free, vegetable-based soft gels

We’ve made a conscious choice to make our soft gels from ingredients derived only from vegetables. There’s no gelatin which is produced from animal bones and marrow. We’re proud to make our gel capsules from vegetables rather than animals.

Pure and Made with Love

We make our Prenatal DHA with love. We believe that nutritional supplements should be like mother’s milk: natural, full of good stuff, but nothing extra. It’s non-GMO, sugar-free and preservative-free.

Your Questions, Our Answers

See the most popular questions asked about Prenatal DHA.

What makes Prenatal DHA specifically “prenatal”?

While all fish oil supplements contain DHA, developing babies and pregnant women need higher doses of DHA than everybody else. Our Prenatal DHA supplement is formulated especially for expecting and lactating moms with 500 mg of DHA per serving.

Should I take Prenatal DHA along with Prenatal Multivitamins?

Our Prenatal DHA and Prenatal Multivitamins complement each other and were formulated to work together. As always, we recommend consulting with your doctor about your body’s specific nutritional needs.

In addition to fish oil, what other ingredients are in your Prenatal DHA?

We include 400 IUs of Vitamin D3 made from lanolin. It also contains natural lemon oil for flavoring and rosemary leaf extract which prevents oxidation and protects the integrity of the fish oil. The fish oil is encapsulated in a vegan gel cap that is made from non-GMO modified cornstarch, carrageenan, glycerin, sorbitol and purified water.

What is carrageenan and what is it doing in Prenatal DHA?

We include tiny amounts of carrageenan in our capsule gel. Carrageenan is derived from algae that we use to help thicken the compound and create a homogenous solution while in our high quality nutraceutical mixer. Not only that, but carrageenan is one of the best vegan options as a substitute for animal-based gelatin, allowing us to make our capsule out of purely vegan ingredients.

There are various forms of carrageenan, and it has over 50 years of safe use. In fact, It was originally used in Ireland around 1810 to cure respiratory ailments and since has been used as a food additive. We use a food grade carrageenan that has been carefully reviewed and found to be safe by the European Commission and the World Health Organization.

What is sorbitol and what is it doing in Prenatal DHA?

Sorbitol is commonly used as a sweetener, but we use tiny amounts of it to produce our soft gel capsules. It functions as a humectant during the manufacturing process so the capsule shell can dry more quickly and packaged immediately. The quantities of sorbitol used in the gel cap are insignificant and should not have an affect on your health.

Is Prenatal DHA sugar-free?

Prenatal DHA is sugar-free. We believe that nutritional supplements should be like mother’s milk: natural, full of good stuff, but nothing extra. In addition to being sugar-free, it’s also preservative-free and non-GMO.

What is corn starch doing in Prenatal DHA?

This natural starch product derived from the corn kernel is used in tiny amounts to produce our soft gel capsules. It is a fine white to yellow powder commonly used in the manufacturing of nutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals as a disintegrant and binder. Disintegrants allow capsules to break down into smaller fragments so that the beneficial natural ingredients can be released for absorption by the body.

The amount of corn starch used in the gel cap are insignificant and should not have an affect on your health.
